  • Bookings are for camping field accommodation toilets showers car park. The site nestles in a secluded valley in the Langdale forest in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and boasts a rich diverse mixture of vegetation wild life and local history. A small river Black Beck runs around the southern most edge of the flat 2.6acre camping field. The site is affordable and excellent for both small weekend backwoodmanship survival type camps or for full week camps for up to 100 campers.

Birch Hall is one of the best locations in the country for basic scouting with excellent options for great fun days out.The site is open 12 months of the year and look what amenities you get for the fee, excellent fully equipped indoor accommodation that will keep you warm and dry, a haven on a wet and cold weekend, a large site to spread yourselves out. Materials are plentiful for the most ambitious bivouacs engineers and firewood is always available for cooking on the alter fires and campfires. The river also provides a further resource for supervised activities. (Subject to P.O.R.)

Please note...... There is limited access for Special Needs Visitors but a prior visit is recommended to assess needs. At present we cannot cater for individual overnight camping. The whole centre is booked for a single party and they have sole use of the centre for the period booked. Bookings are charged at a very competitive daily rate (individual charges as above are intended only as a guide). Contact our Booking Secretary for details and availability. (No enquiries after 9pm please) An additional area for pitching tents is available if required at no extra charge but Crockery, pots, pans and eating utensils etc. are only available for 50 people. Description

The campsite nestles on the slopes of the Cleveland Hills, just within the boundaries of the North Yorkshire Moors National Park. The campsite covers an area of approximately 15 acres of rough moorland. There are two accommodation blocks on site: The Teesdale Building (a wooden bothy-type building) and Warren Cottage.

Additional notes

Sole use of the campsite is not guaranteed. No telephone on site, but good mobile phone signal throughout campsite. Bridle path runs through camp site. Absolutely no dogs on campsite with the exception of guide dogs. Water is sourced from a bore hole and filtered. Site is almost always sheep free. Due to narrow access road, absolutely no coaches (although minibus access is fine). For further up-to-date information about the campsite go to the District website.
